Tabitha House

We spent the day at Tabitha House. The orphanage in the "dump" near Guatemala city. We had VBS with about 75 kids that we worked with. They were a blessing. We also had church with about 50 adults that lived in the dump. Angela and Russ shared their testimonies and Dan preached. We also shared in the Lord's supper together. They had never done that being a new fellowship and so it was a very special time. We also went to the dump. Word's cannot express the oppression that human beings have to endure in that squatters village. It is absolutely unthinkable.

I thought I would update you on how everyone feels as of Mon night. Jon wanted us to use percentages so 100% means you're great, 10% means you're almost dead. So.......... Marcie 50%, Angela 75%, Russ 35% (he's up and down), Steve 75%, Dan 98%, Page 92%, Audrey 60%, Abby 98%, Jonathan 92.5%, and I am currently at 98. Will try to post pics from Tabitha House, the orphanage tomorrow.

Monday

Believe it or not you can live without Internet or phone service. We survived 4 days! We are in GT city now and everyone is resting. We are letting 4 of us recover from some stomach problems. All that traveling and eating at odd schedules or not at all takes its toll eventually. We only have 1 more day of ministry and it is tomrw at Tabitha house. So please be in prayer that we will all be ready to go tomrw morning. We will try to blog more this evening.

Just when you think you got it all together......

The team has already had to endure a tremendous challenge and disappointment even before we leave.  Team member Paul has suffered a powerful seizure that has left him unable to go on the trip to Guatemala.  Words cannot express our profound disappointment because no one showed more enthusiasm about the trip than Paul.     However, we do not consider him as off the team but rather reassigned by God for the more difficult task of staying behind and holding his other team members before the Lord in prayer.  We are thankful that if this had to happen to Paul, it happened before we left because he would not have received adequate care in Guatemala.  As God would have it, Russ has joined the team at the last minute.  We are excited about Russ because he is an EMT and firefighter.  Makes me wonder though why God thinks we need an EMT and firefighter on the trip.  It probably has something to do with the fact that one of our team members is an 8 yr old boy : )

Here we are packing............

In The Beginning......

In March 2011,  Community Baptist Church sent out 2 "spies" to view the opportunity that God was giving us to "make disciples of all the nations."  A little over one year later, we will officially begin this journey on May 30th as we send out 10 team members to San Rafael, GT.  The team has been meeting together every Sunday afternoon at 1:30 to pray, prepare and plan for the trip.  God has already begun a unique work in our hearts by developing a strong, spiritual unity among the team.  Please pray for us as we walk in obedience to our call.  To view the team, please click on the link to the right under "Pages" that reads "Summer 2012 Team".
